Beacon Hill Apartments
Heavily damaged in a 2016 fire, this 1920’s brick apartment building on historic Beacon Hill is undergoing a full gut renovation. The owners have taken the opportunity to modernize and reconfigure the eleven apartments into 9 two-bed units and 2 one-bed units. Beyond the many requirements of bringing the building up to today’s codes, the insertion of an elevator was a technical challenge involving considerable engineering. The building is unusual for its location as it is newer relative to its neighbors, taller, and runs through the block to the next street over. Despite its long and narrow geometry, a side courtyard allows for dozens of windows into all of the units. Finishes are clean, modern and bright to take advantage of the natural light.
