Public Garden Residence
The Public Garden Residence started with a dated neo-colonial interior located within a beautiful stone Victorian along one of Boston’s prettiest parks. The full gut renovation did not aim to completely erase the history of this unit, saving some of the original details of the existing space. The fine balance between these historic elements, which included the old fireplaces and molding details, and to what would eventually become the new space allows the homeowners to have a transitional experience where the old and the new come together to create something different. Walnut was a staple material in the project comprising the custom millwork, passageway surrounds, doors, and accents. Dark stones and wood, paired against stark white walls, furthers the interplay between the past and present and provides a wonderful canvas for our client’s impressive collection of art and sculptures.
