Swampscott Residence
At a mere 76 square feet, one may not anticipate a bathroom renovation to take three years to go from design to construction, but this project was a labor of love for both the clients, as well as architect. One of the clients, a professor and a close friend of the design team, first engaged us after she and her husband purchased a beautiful 1950s mid-century modern home in Swampscott, Massachusetts. The previous owner had over the years renovated certain aspects of the home (such as this primary bathroom), however they lost touch with the original design intent of the home. Our clients sought to restore that intent, while bringing her Nordic heritage into the design through thoughtful material selection, an engagement with the outdoors and efficient use of space.
